Masterclass Kronberg Academy Kodály Sonata First Movement Julian Steckel Cello www.kronbergacademy.de
BARENBOIM ON BEETHOVEN - Masterclass on the Sonatas Renowned pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim's masterclasses on Beethoven's piano sonatas were recorded at Symphony Hall, Chicago. January 2005
The featured works are:
Appassionata Sonata, Op. 57;
first movement of Sonata Op. 31 No. 1:
third movement of Sonata Op. 109.
Barenboim takes each player through their chosen sonata movement, illustrating the importance of structure and the relationships between tempo, harmony and dynamics.
Pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim gives a masterclass on the Beethoven piano sonatas, coaching some of the world's rising piano stars who already have international careers (like Lang Lang, here at his best, David Kadouch and Jonathan Biss).
Daniel Barenboim in his double role of director and pianist have achieved a very significant place in the most different musical stages. His talent is like a big watershed of ideas and original proposals about the importance of the sound, modulation, phrasing, fingering and articulation about some fundamental passages of the most distinguished Beethoven's Piano Sonatas.
There are notable, wisdom and substantial observations in this sense through a very warm exchange of points of view with these young pianists, as well with the present audience. An invaluable document that must be seen not only by the newcomers musicians, but for all those who love the music.
A documentary film about famed cellist, Gegor Piatigorsky Directed, photographed and edited by Steve Grumette
Heifetz, Jascha (1901-1987)
Piatigorsky, Gregor (1903-1976)
Rubinstein, Artur (1887-1982)
Schubert - Piano Trio in B-flat (1st movement);
Mendelssohn -- Piano Trio in D minor (1st, 2nd & 3rd movements)
Artur Rubinstein [videorecording] / Dennis M. Hedlund presents a Kultur International Films, Ltd. release (fragment)
The documentary Artur Rubinstein features historic film footage showcasing Rubinstein's playing of:
Mendelssohn's Spinning Song
Liszt's Liebestraum
Chopin's C# minor Waltz
Chopin's A Major Polonaise
In his house:
Chopin's F# minor Prelude
Chopin's C# minor Mazurka
Chopin's C# minor Scherzo
Chopin's F# minor Nocturne
Chopin's Ab Major Polonaise
In rehearsal with Heifetz and Piatigorsky, is, in my opinon, the greatest interpretation of Schubert's Piano Trio in Bb; although sadly only the first movement was taped. The Mendelssohn Piano Trio in D minor is also featured, in its entirety, and shows the excellent partnership these three players possessed.
