Pianist Cho-Hyun Park hails from South Korea, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Seoul National University, followed by a Master’s degree and Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Texas at Austin.
Her broad interest in classical music has led to many projects as a collaborative pianist, including work with orchestra, chorus, opera, ballet, and chamber music. As a soloist, Dr. Park has distinguished herself among the top performers of her generation by earning the first prize at the 2014 Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev International Piano Competition in Italy. This accomplishment led to concert tour here in the US, including a debut performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City the following year. Her “sensible, motoric, nicely reasoned” qualities and artistic style make her a sought-after collaborator.
Dr. Park has partnered with many of San Diego’s young, outstanding musicians. She has performed at the Musical Merit Foundation, SDYS Angels' Angels concert, the La Jolla Symphony Young Artist Competition & Winner’s Recital, the La Jolla Music Society (LJMS) Prelude Concert, LJMS Summer master classes, the Heart of A Child concert, and the International Symphony Orchestra concert year after year. As a soloist, she is regularly invited to perform in local concert series at libraries, churches, and concert venues. As a chamber musician, she is a founding member of the Ensemble Aquarelle (piano, flute, cello). Dr. Park spends much of her time coaching and mentoring young pianists as a Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) and Music Teachers’ National Association (MTNA) member. Many of her students have won in the San Diego regional and state final competitions. She also serves as a collaborative pianist at the Grossmont College Music Department.

Hailing from the picturesque city of San Diego, California, Oksana embarked on her musical journey at the age of five, delving into the realm of classical piano. Her dedication to the piano arts led her to the esteemed Eastman School of Music, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance under the tutelage of the renowned Professor Nelita True.
Continuing her pursuit of excellence, Oksana ventured across the Atlantic to the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, Austria, where she completed her Master's Degree in the distinguished studio of Professor Oleg Marshev.
A pivotal chapter in Oksana's formative years unfolded when she became a private student of the late Professor Vitaly Margulis at the age of 13. This privileged association endured for two transformative years until Professor Margulis' passing in 2011. Undeterred, Oksana continued her musical odyssey under the guidance of Dr. Sarkis Baltaian of Los Angeles.
The Eastman School of Music not only marked a significant milestone but also recognized Oksana's exceptional talent by awarding her the Howard Hanson, Philip Farish, and Avis D. Vaughn Scholarship Awards. Her dedication to her craft further manifested through participation in prestigious piano festivals both in the United States and Europe.
Among these notable experiences were the Vitaly Margulis Piano Master Class at the University of California Los Angeles, the Colburn Academy Piano Festival in Los Angeles, Klaviersommer - John Perry Piano Festival in Germany, Southern California Music Institute with John Perry, and the Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival in Florida. Oksana also had the privilege of participating in the Casalmaggiore International Festival in Italy, where she honed her skills under the guidance of distinguished artists such as Vitaly Margulis, John Perry, Mina Perry, Thomas Schumacher, Rebecca Penneys, Blanca Uribe, Gabriel Kwok, Jean-David Cohen, Dmitri Shteinberg, Christopher Harding, Kevin Fitz-Gerald, Fr. Sean Duggan, Eunmi Ko, Roberta Rust, Ori Shihor, Andrew Park, and Wojciech Kocyan.
A dream cherished since childhood materialized when Oksana, recognized as a 2010 Young Artist "Hot Shots" Competition winner, graced the stage with the San Diego Symphony at their 100 Year Anniversary Gala. Her performance of the Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 captivated audiences and showcased her musical prowess.
Oksana's musical journey continued to unfold on various prestigious platforms, including the San Diego Symphony's Children's Concert Series "Bravo, Beethoven!" in May 2010, the La Jolla Music Society's Discovery Series Prelude Concerts in 2012, and regular appearances on the Music 101 Radio broadcast on San Diego's classical station 104.9 FM. Notably, she shone as a featured soloist with the Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra, delivering captivating renditions of Addinsell's Warsaw Concerto and Beethoven's Concerto No. 3.
As she continues to evolve in her musical pursuits, Oksana stands as a testament to unwavering dedication, exceptional talent, and a journey marked by notable achievements in the world of classical piano performance.
