Native San Diegan, Sebastian began playing the cello at the age of 12 and a few years later joined the class of RusLan Biryukov. Initially starting as a hobby, he soon felt a calling toward music and developed a desire to become a professional musician. Sebastian performed in various settings and took part in numerous chamber and orchestra projects, including the San Diego Youth Cello Quartet and the San Diego Youth Symphony program for five years during high school. As a member of the Cello Quartet, he won the Music Teachers Association of California VOCE Competition.
After high school, Sebastian pursued his education at Chapman University, where he earned degrees in music and computer science. During his time at Chapman, he received several talent scholarships for both music and academics and served as the principal cellist for The Chapman Orchestra. He was also a member of the Temianka Quartet, the premier chamber group at the university. Sebastian later obtained his master's degree from Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating in 2023.
Sebastian has traveled extensively to perform and compete in various states and countries, including France, Italy, and the Netherlands. While a student, his notable appearances included performances at Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego and Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Winning top prizes at international competitions in New York and the International Music Academy in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Italy, in 2018 and 2019, led to appearances at Carnegie Hall and tours in Europe. Currently based in Southern California, Sebastian continues to pursue his passion for music.
